Dream Repertory for the Piano

Your parents drop you off at a concert venue, and you’re wearing a beautiful dress with pearls and high-heels (or a suit), and your heart is racing. You’ve been dreaming of this moment for years, so many times it has tormented your heart and at last it has come true. You step in the venue’s bathroom, straighten out your clothing a bit, descend into the amphitheater, and climb the steps behind the curtain. The bright limelight is slightly warm; your footsteps resound on the vast, empty stage. To your right, in the darkness, are a thousand faces of people who wish to see you play. Everything has lead up to this moment. You can inspire them, bring them radiant joy, or tear them apart, but everyone believes in your talent—they all want to hear your story. It’s hard to believe this is happening.
